Poor air quality impacts all living things, but there are ways to reduce those impacts. As resource managers, we use critical loads (CL) to inform our decision making so we can protect our air and impacted ecosystems. The term critical load is used to describe the threshold of deposition below which specified harmful ecological effects do not occur.
